LD/QM32 Updates listing

Here are recent updates to the Lasershow
Designer (QM32 board) system. These updates include not only the latest software, but also
shows, frames and animations. This is a major benefit of LD -- updates
are always free!
We want to be sure that you always have the
latest and best version of LD. Since 1994, we have provided many major updates which have
included 28 laser shows (songs) and many thousands of clip art frames.
|
These updates are for Pangolin clients only.
The files will only install on computers that have the Lasershow Designer
(QM32) system. If you do not have LD, please don't waste time downloading these
files -- they will be of no use to you.
If you have LD, but do not wish
to download, you can order the latest Lasershow
Designer CD-ROM.
|
Please note: General instructions for
installing the updates are at the bottom of this page.

his update has bug fixes and feature improvements
to LD, Showtime, and Autoplay. It includes a special
version of Showtime for users who 1) have Windows 98 and 2)
get an "Illegal Function Call" error when starting
the Live! program. Finally, we have added LD2000.DLL, which
is needed by any LD (QM32) user of Patrick Dietzel's ShowControl
program.
LD Update 19
incorporates all updates since LD Update 14. We have
removed updates 15 through 18 from this website -- you can
go directly from 14 to 19.
Install note:
The file LDUP19.EXE will run only under
Windows 95/98/ME -- it does not run under Windows 3.1. At
this point in LD's development, we are assuming all clients
are running LD under Windows 95 or higher.
- LDUP19.EXE. Contains updated versions of LD.EXE,
SHOWTIME.EXE, AUTOPLAY.EXE, LD.DLL, LD2000.DLL and
LD.Q32. Also
contains special Showtime version STWin98.EXE, Visual Basic 4.0 16-bit runtime VB40016.DLL,
OLE component OC25.DLL, and text documentation
UPDATE19.TXT. File size: 8,234,589 bytes (8 MB). Click
here to go to the Update Files page.

LD Update
14 includes Showtime support for Lasershow Performer.
This 19" desk- or rack-mount console lets you control your laser show using the 60
glowing keys and backlit encoder wheel. It's ideal for discos and nightclubs, and makes
any show more fun to run.

his update consists of three files:
-
LDUP14a.EXE. This includes the most critical software: LD release
2.86 and Showtime release 2.26. It also includes all necessary support files to run these
two releases, and it now includes the May 12 cursor fix described above. File size:
2,050,943 bytes (2.003 MB). Click here to go to the Update Files page.
-
LDUP14b.EXE This has a new graphics show from Holger Walter,
"Celebration". It also has a completely updated Showtime help file, which now
covers all Showtime features including the Live! controller, and the Lasershow Performer
console. Finally, it includes printable versions of all six LD help files (in Adobe
Acrobat PDF format), for those who wish paper copies of the help files. File size:
6,485,184 (6.3 MB). Click here to go to the Update Files page.
-
LDUP14c.EXE This contains hundreds of clip art frames provided by
Steve Jander of Showlasers, Inc. in Dallas. Click here to
view frames from the "Star Wars" directory; these frames may be useful as
the new Phantom Menace movie is released.
We are providing the aerospace, Star Trek and Star Wars frames as part of a beta
release of Update 14c. File size: 1,182,422 (1.12 MB). Click here to go to the Update
Files page.
Note: The complete
set of Showlasers clip art
frames is over 17 MB, and is
available only on the LD
Installation CD. If you have
an older installation CD
disc, and want to check if
you have all the Showlasers
frames, look in the CD
disc's LD\Frames\ClipArt\Sholasrs
directory. You should see 11
subdirectories.

pdate 13 is no longer available. LD Update 14a
has more recent versions of all files that were in 13, so 13 is not necessary.

his contains two files: 12a and 12b. (Some
clients received this split into four files; 12a1, 12a2, 12b1, and 12b2.)
-
LDUP12a.EXE is no longer available. LD Update 14a has more recent
versions of files that were in 12a, so 12a is not necessary.
-
LDUP12b.EXE contains "MissionB", a beam show; 60+ clip art
frames; updated LD shows incorporating image masking; and two Visual Basic .BAS files.
If you do not have these shows and frames, then
you can download the file WRAP12B.EXE. This is a "wrapper" file which contains
the 12b installation file. Run it to get the file LDUP12b.EXE. You can then run
LDUP12b.EXE to install the shows and frames. Click here to go to
the Update Files page.

his contained eight files, 11a through 11h. If
you have a LD CD-ROM dated "Nov. 1997" or later, then you do not need LD Update
11.
If your LD system is so old that the CD-ROM is
before November 1997, please contact Pangolin to order a new CD-ROM. We believe it is
better for you to have the latest CD-ROM, rather than trying to download and install up to
12 files.

nstalling LD updates is simple. Please review
the following instructions to avoid any problems:
-
Download. Download the update files that you want. (Note: You can
download using any computer. However, the update files will only install on a computer
that has a working LD system, so copy the files over to the LD computer before
proceeding.)
-
Reboot if necessary. If you are installing LDUP14a
or LDUP19 and
you have already run LD or Showtime, then it is best that you reboot your computer first.
This is because some LD system files are kept in memory by Windows. The installation
program may not be able to install over these files if they are in memory. By rebooting,
you ensure that no LD files are in memory.
-
Run the update files. Update files are self-extracting .EXE files.
Simply run them like any other program. The installation program will put all the new
files in the correct locations. (For "wrap" files, you first run the WRAP__.EXE
program to unwrap and extract the installation LDUP__.EXE program.)
-
Run LD and Showtime. The next time you run Lasershow Designer or
Showtime, the programs will detect that you have updated. They will first confirm that you
agree to the LD License. Then, they will put up a window that can take you to see what is
new in the program -- it is a good idea to check this out.
This is also a good time to check out any new shows, clip art
frames, and help files that may be in the update.
-
Backup the update files. You may wish to store the downloaded
update files in a safe place, should you ever need to reinstall LD or the update files.
Information on each update is in a file called UPDATE__.TXT (example:
UPDATE19.TXT)
that is automatically installed in your LD directory. Use Notepad or any word processing
program to read this file, to find out more about all the new files and features in the
update. |
