The CD/DVD set is packed with programs, help files, frames, shows and music.

  Here is a partial list of features and bug fixes added to past versions of LD2000 software and hardware between the introduction of LD2000 and version 3.10 released March 4, 2003. Major releases and changes are listed in boldface.

(Note that this page is no longer being updated due to the faster pace of LD2000 system development since 2003...)
  


 


LD2000 program (frame/animation creation and editing)

       Release 3.10 (dated February 26, 2003, released March 4 2003):

- Added support for up to 64000 frames and 1GB of QM2000 memory.

- Added additional controls to the Enhanced Reality Preview settings dialog box.

- Added more drawing colors to the color wheel used in LD2000 Intro systems.

- Greatly improved the rendering quality of TrueType fonts.

- Improved projected image quality of laser-projected cursors.

- Fixed bug in ILDA File loader which prevented it from supporting interleaved palette (format 2) files under some circumstances.

       Release 2.50 (dated July 30 2002, released July 30 2002):

- Added 'View/Enhanced Reality Preview' menu to the Laser Preview Window. This can be used to give a near-perfect computer representation of both beams and graphics.

- Included VST2002 -- a completely reworked version of the award-winning VST real time video tracing program.

- Included AVS/Laser -- a Winamp plug-in which generates abstracts, graphics and beam effects which are automatically and precisely synchronized to music.

- Fixed bug which would effectively filter a frame twice if 'Filter (soften) Lines' was used on a block of frames.

- Fixed bug which would cause an error if you pressed the 'Advanced' button while the Drawing Window was minimized.

       Release 2.31 (dated February 5 2002, released February 27 2002):

- Added a new LD2000_Network application which allows you to access QM2000 boards anywhere on an Ethernet network. This was previously in BETA testing.

- Added and updated the number of frames and shows included on the LD2000 installation CD. The latest CD includes over 70 shows, 118,000 laser frames and 9 royalty-free songs.

- Changed block operations so that they will work in Novice mode as well as Expert mode.

- Fixed a few minor bugs related to the use of Projection Zones.

- A variety of other bug fixes.
      

       Release 2.11 (dated August 22 2001, released August 27 2001):

- Added support for up to 20 projectors (sometimes referred to as 'Scanners').

- Added the ability to adjust the scan speed, color shift, palette and vector settings for each scanner individually.

- Added a bold new concept called 'Projection Zones'. The use of projection zones allows you to concentrate on the show itself and where various show elements and effects will be projected, instead of concentrating on the equipment necessary to do the show.

- Added a new Palette Setup Wizard which presents a series of simple steps to guide you through setting up the palette for each scanner.

- Added the ability to select different "color balance selections" to choose from Fully Balanced, High Saturation and High Power color balance.

- Added an "Advanced Frame Properties" section to the LD control window which allows you to create point-oriented, vector-oriented, abstract and raster frames. This section also allows you to set clipart categories and security options for each frame.

- Added a new Clipart categories system. You can use this along with the Clipart Search Engine to further aid in quickly finding and identifying frames.

- Added the ability to secure individual frames or blocks of frames, to control distribution of these frames amongst authorized users of your choosing.

- Added a new Laser Preview window to LD2000.
 
- Completely reworked the rasterizing engine to provide real-time feedback and other features.

- Added the ability to create frames with Beam Brush.

- Added the ability to change the 3D angle by simply clicking and dragging the mouse in the drawing window.

- Added the ability to see blanked points and blanked lines in the drawing window has been added.
 

        Release 1.32 (dated October 11 2000, released November 1 2000): Improved the speed of certain operations when you have AutoRotate turned on.

        Release 1.31: Fixed bug which would halt the program if you typed certain European characters in the Text Settings dialog when Stick font was selected.

        Release 1.30: Added Web publishing feature, so you can publish a block of frames to a website or to a printer. Added enhanced file dialogs to show previews and information about LD files and bitmaps. Increased the number of files that can be automatically rastered from around 100 to around 1200 frames. Changed the Text Settings dialog to prevent "Error 7 - Out of memory" messages seen on some systems.

        Release 1.21 (dated July 3 2000, released August 23 2000): Added clipart browse/search function -- find frames much more easily than before. Added new LD2000-specific help files. Added 200 different DMX frames (devices) programmed by Richard Gonsalves of Production Design International, representing 34 manufacturers selling 145 fixtures with up to 6 operating modes per fixture. Added readouts and reset buttons to the Geometric Correction section of the Projector Settings. Added Windows 2000 and Unicode support to TrueType fonts. Fixed bugs related to cutting and pasting.

        Release 1.20: Added additional definitions to DMX color wheel action. Fixed bug which caused LD2000 to paste multiple times if you use CTRL-V on the keyboard to paste.

        Release 1.18: Changed tablet driver code to work better with Aiptek Hyperpen series of digitizing tablets.

        Releases 1.16 and 1.17: Minor bug fixes and changes.

        Release 1.15: DMX support added. Includes wizard for defining and editing DMX devices. Old LD/QM32 TTL outputs can be mapped to DMX channels. Added a "Save Reminder" dialog, if you try to exit LD2000 without saving your work. Added automatic color training to the Palette dialog.

        Release 1.07: Added support for TrueType fonts. Fixed a bug which caused an error under some circumstances if the same frame file was saved more than 3 times.

        Release 1.06 (released May 2000): Added support for MicroScribe 3D digitizing arm. Drawing tools are now vector-aware and you no longer need to re-vectorize frames after drawing more points. Fixed "Convert to vector" so it removes collinear points.

        Release 1.05: Removed Y2K menu. Added more descriptive message for palette loading. Fixed possible Runtime 13 error, seen only on international versions of Windows.

        Release 1.04 (released February 2000): "Recolor points to background bitmap" now enabled in Intro and Basic levels. "Digitizing pad" menu moved under "Digitizers" to allow for future enhancements. Animate/Morph runtime errors fixed. Overlay mode fixed. Insert mode removed.

        Release 1.02: Pressure sensitive support for drawing tablets that report pressure information via the stylus (pen) cursor. (This will allow "soft" lines to be drawn using the stream tools and the paintbrush tool. Toggle this on or of using the "p" key or using the "Set" menu item under digitizing tablet menu.) Fixed an issue that prevented drawing tablets from working correctly.
  

 

 


Showtime 2000 program (show creation)

       Release 3.10 (dated February 26, 2003, released March 4 2003):

- Added support for up to 64000 frames and 1GB of QM2000 memory.

- Added the ability for SMPTE to start and stop the Multimedia Player.

- Added the ability to control the size and visibility of the audio waveform timeline.

- Added the ability for Showtime and Autoplay to output serial data and also added Serial Output Settings dialog box.

- Added the ability to play the show from the current cursor position when you press the SPACE bar.

- Added the ability to save and recall your favorite window positions within Showtime.

- Made a few changes to enhance the speed of the LD2000 Network. In particular, the startup, shutdown and palette training process should be much faster.

- Fixed bug related to multi-scanner and multi-zone use with masking.

- A variety of other minor enhancements and bug fixes.

      Release 2.50 (dated July 30 2002, released July 30, 2002):

- Added 'View/Enhanced Reality Preview' menu to the Laser Preview Window. This can be used to give a near-perfect computer representation of both beams and graphics.

- Added some additional options when saving a show as a series of ILDA frames.

- Added the ability to assign the Projection Zone assignments to all tracks in the Track Properties dialog box.

- Enhanced the capabilities of the Show-to-AVI process. This now supports shows made with multiple scanners.

- A variety of other minor enhancements and bug fixes.
 

    Release 2.31 (dated February 5 2002, released February 27 2002):

- Final release of the enhanced timeline system that was previously in BETA testing. This is a major enhancement which includes a new WAV file viewer, ability to select/cut/copy/paste/move multiple events, unlimited undo/redo and a whole lot more.

- Added a new feature that allows you to export a show as an AVI file. This feature was used to create the Videos of shows seen at the Pangolin meetings.

- Enhanced the capability of the Add Frame Offset facility used when combining shows. Now Live! references and Abstracts are properly handled.
 

     Release 1.62 (dated August 22 2001, released August 27 2001):

- Added a single-level Undo to the Timeline Editor.

- Added the ability to see little icons of the frames in the timeline.

- Added the ability for Showtime to automatically set the start an end frames of an animation, when you drag a frame from the framelist.

- Added a new animation method called 'Limited refresh-based animation'.

- Added the ability to use LaserScroll with all refresh-based animations.

- Added the ability to specify the projection zone in Live! when doing animations or scrolling text. For example, you can now direct animations or scrolling text to a different scanner if desired. This even allows you to output to multiple zones and multiple scanners.

- Added the ability to show icons in Live! as regular graphics or as audience scanning beams.

- Added Master Position X and Master Position Y Sliders to Live!

- Added the ability to could adjust parameters by dragging the mouse in the Effect Preview window. This is particularly handy for rotation, position and color change effects.

- Added 'Rotation center' and 'Secondary Rotation' actions to the Effect Editor.

- Added more options to the 'Hue Offset' and 'Visible Points' actions in the Effect Editor.

- Added the ability to write/Erase of vector oriented frames

- Drastically improved the real-time morphing to allow for much smoother color changes and scan rate changes.
 

        Release 1.32 (dated October 11 2000, released November 1 2000): Major changes to Showtime's Multimedia Player: Play more audio types, including MP3 files. Play video types, including AVI, MPG, and MOV files. (If you have any problems playing these new types, click here for more information.) Added the ability to select which CD player to use, when you have more than one CD drive in your computer. Added 4 beam shows and 2 graphics shows: "Again!" and "Special!FX" from Peter Heyt, "Duel of the Fates" from Johannes Coppes, "Reflections" from Holger Walter, "Atlantis" from Jason Mariani-Taylor and "Purple People Eater" from Mark Howard.

        Release 1.31 (October 10 2000): Fixed a bug in the timeline editor which would cause an error if you cut and pasted a scene-level event in Windows 2000.

        Release 1.30 (October 1 2000): Added Web publishing feature, so you can publish a block of frames to a website or to a printer. Added enhanced file dialogs to show previews and information about LD files and bitmaps. Fixed a bug in the Effect Editor which would sometimes cause the list of actions to be jumbled. Fixed a bug in Live! that would cause an error if you allow Live! to automatically assign keys to a show with more than 48 scenes. Fixed a bug which would cause an error message when Showtime starts up on certain laptop computers.

        Release 1.21 (dated July 3 2000, released August 23 2000): Added clipart browse/search function -- find frames much more easily than before. Added new Showtime 2000-specific help files. Added 200 different DMX frames (devices) programmed by Richard Gonsalves of Production Design International, representing 34 manufacturers selling 145 fixtures with up to 6 operating modes per fixture. Added readouts and reset buttons to the Geometric Correction section of the Projector Settings. Extended the capability of the Show Description field, when creating and editing a Show. Fixed a bug related to Master Size and Master Position in LD Intro.

        Release 1.20 (June 20 2000): Added additional definitions to DMX color wheel action.

        Release 1.19 (June 12 2000): Fixed a bug in Live! which would sometimes play part of a multimedia wave file on cues that were not supposed to have multimedia. Fixed a bug in Live! which would reset the size parameters if you paused playback and rotated the cue wheel on the Lasershow Performer console.

        Release 1.18 (June 9 2000): Changed the way Showtime communicates with the Lasershow Performer console for better operation on international versions of Windows.

        Releases 1.16 and 1.17 (May 2-10 2000): Fixed a minor bug causing synchronized show timing to drift under some circumstances. Fixed a minor bug in DMX wizard. Changed Palette editor slightly to track down a bug. Changed a few error messages related to installation of the QM2000 device driver.

        Release 1.15 (May 1 2000): Added a wizard for defining and editing DMX devices. 

        Release 1.14 (April 7 2000): Added a "Save Reminder" dialog, if you try to exit Showtime without saving your show or frame file. Added "Save All Frames" menu to the Frame List. Added "Goto/ Last active frame" menu item to the Frame List. Improved the DMX Device editor. Improved internal DMX support for Startup and Shutdown values. Added slew rate control to each DMX channel.

        Release 1.13 (March 18 2000): Changed the way the Stop button functions in the Multimedia player; when you press stop, the selected track remains instead of returning to track 1. Fixed a bug in Live! which prevented spacebar tap sync from working. Fixed a minor bug in the Create New Show Wizard.

        Release 1.12 (March 17 2000): Improved DMX support.

        Release 1.11 (March 16 2000): Changed Lasershow Performer console's serial handlers to work better with Chinese releases of Windows.

        Release 1.10 (March 10 2000): DMX support added, including seven DMX-related actions in the Effect Editor.

        Release 1.08 (March 3 2000): Fixed a bug which caused an error under some circumstances if the same frame file was saved more than 3 times.

        Release 1.07 (February 22 2000): Added automatic color training to the Palette dialog.

        Release 1.06 (February 17 2000): Old LD/QM32 TTL outputs can be mapped to DMX channels.

        Release 1.05 (February 8 2000): Added Master Size and Master Position actions to LD2000 Intro release (had previously been in Basic and Pro).

        Release 1.04 (dated January 24 2000): Added more descriptive text to palette loading error messages. Removed Y2K menu and text. Fixed bug which caused certain multi-scanner shows to misplace timeline events. Fixed bug which caused "Run time error 13" under some circumstances.

        Release 1.03 (January 21 2000): Fixed bug in Effect Editor which would cause a "Type mismatch error" when editing certain effects.

        Release 1.02 (January 14 2000): Fixed bug in Geometric Corrector which would not retain correct values if the regional settings of the computer were set to non-U.S. countries. Fixed bug in Showtime which would revert to LD2000 Intro level if LD2000 Intro boards were used as slaves along with LD2000 Pro boards.

        Release 1.01 (December 28 1999): Implemented SMPTE/MTC timecode with the new MaxMidi DLL set. Also implemented MIDI In for Live control, and MIDI Out for Showtime timeline functions.

        Release 1.00 (dated November 22 1999): Initial release of Showtime 2000.
  

 

 


Autoplay 2000 program (Automatic show playback)

       Release 3.10 (dated February 26, 2003, released March 4 2003):

- Added 'Maximize' button to the Laser Preview Window.

- Added serial output support from Showtime.

- Added the ability for Autoplay and Preview windows to memorize their positions.

- Changed colors of the Autoplay form to be compatible with those of custom schemes and Windows XP.

- Fixed bug which basically ignored the selection of 'Preview Window Output Only' selection.

        Release 2.50 (dated July 30 2002, released July 30 2002):

- Fixed bug which prevented MIDI Output from working properly.

        Release 2.31 (dated February 5 2002, released February 27 2002):

- Fixed bug related to the use of the Preview window in Autoplay.

- Fixed bug which would only allow scrolling text on scanner 1, regardless of the projection zones selection.

        Release 2.11 (dated August 22 2001, released August 27 2001):

- Added a preview window to Autoplay. This window is accessed by a Window menu on the main Autoplay program.

- Added the ability to select projection zones for scrolling text.
