It provides an analog readout of the impedance magnitude and phase. When you set the frequency dial to the "LC" setting, it will give a direct read-out of capacitance and inductance.

This device was used by Pangolin in our laboratory for a while, before we got a much more sophisticated piece of equipment. After that, it sat in our back room and was forgotten until we recently discovered it while cleaning...

This device is in beautiful physical condition, and does work. But while testing it just before putting it up for auction, we discovered that the Z * 1 and Z * 10 scales work perfectly with all Frequency ranges. But the Z * 100 range and higher Z ranges will only work properly when the frequency is set to the F * 10 range. With other combinations the phase indicator moves erratically. Because of this, we are selling this unit as-is, and at an as-is price...

We purchased this from an older gentleman who refurbishes test equipment as a hobby. As of a few years ago, all circuitry had been refurbished and the dials and scales move very smoothly. And the frequency indicator dial has been polished to an almost chrome finish.

Although we have not analyzed the circuitry to find the problem, our guess is that the problem can't be too difficult to solve because the circuit also is not very complex. Repair and operator manuals are available on-line.

Buyer pays actual shipping charges (we do not charge anything extra for handling).  This device weighs 26lbs packed (in the an oversize box with foam for safe transport).  We are not including the power cord with this purchase, but it is a standard EURO-style cord as used on most test equipment and personal computers.
