The most advanced technology
For hardware, every LD system comes with a custom processor board that works with standard
Microsoft Windows PCs. This board is a self-contained computer with its own
microprocessor, memory and projector control outputs.
When displaying laser shows, the board is completely on its own, without relying on the
host PC. This means shows will be more reliable — shows will not be affected even if
the host PC should crash. It also means that LD has more power than systems with simple
D/A cards, and that LD costs less than systems requiring a proprietary, one-of-a-kind
industrial computer.
For software, LD has the most advanced features. These include 16-bit resolution for
ultra-smooth movement, six color channels for the most brilliant colors available
anywhere, raster (TV-like) laser photographs, image masking to give realistic scenes, 32
tracks (objects) at one time, 3D database, and AutoTrace to convert bitmaps to laser
outlines.
Once you have your frames and animations, the Showtime program puts them together with
music. It works with any music: the computer’s internal CD player, waveform or MIDI
files, and external SMPTE/MIDI timecode. For discos and nightclubs, you can use Showtime
or the optional Lasershow Performer console to press keys and “play” the lasers
live.
Quickly make high-quality shows
Showtime is the only timeline editor for laser shows. This means it works like Adobe
Premiere or Macromedia Director. It is easier to use than systems with old-fashioned
scripts, and it is more accurate than simplistic systems where you sequence animations but
can’t accurately time them.
It is simple to make shows: Listen to the music while pressing the keys to mark the
musical beats. Then pick a frame or animation, add an effect (such as “rotate”
or “fade in”), and put them together on the timeline as an event. Move the event
start and stop times to match the music — and you’re done.
This lets you create sophisticated transitions like those in TV and computer graphics.
Just drag-and-drop to make fades, wipes, zooms, moves, reveals, real-time morphing, color
cycling and much more. Showtime can also trigger external devices such as beams, lumia,
fog, pyrotechnics and lights.
Use Lasershow Performer for live shows
For live shows, the Live! program built into Showtime is perfect. Trigger up to 432 cues
with the mouse, computer keyboard, a MIDI keyboard, or the Lasershow Performer console.
Each cue can trigger laser graphics, beams, and external devices. Live! was designed both
for live corporate-type shows, and for fast-paced disco-type shows.
To run Live! at its maximum, add the 19” rackmount Lasershow Performer console.
Lighted keys give you instant status indications of all cues and show conditions.
