Still not able to resolve this issue, nothing I tried ever helped.
Would somebody who's got a running Winamp-version be so kind to put his Winamp-folder in an archive and send it to me?

log on to the PhotonLexicon FTP server (ftp.photonlexicon.com) ID
lftp Pass: ildaswap and navigate to the software directory. Download the Winamp.zip file and give it a try.

Thanks Buffo!
It's not working either. Tried some 2.x versions last week, but always with the same result. As soon as the super scope effect is called Winamp instantly exits without further notice. Does somebody know if debug message / log file output can be enforced in Winamp to narrow down this malfunction? ![]() I also tried on a virtual machine and on my laptop, always the same. Maybe this constellation does not like my OS or something (btw... it's WinXP SP3 german)... I'm pretty much clueless. Next try will be Win2000 in a VM. |

Success!
Everything is working in my virtual machine Windows 2000 setup, also the SuperScope effect does not crash Winamp here. Question is: WHY does my Win XP SP3 (Host OS) fail to run the SuperScope effect correctly while Win 2000 (Guest OS) has no problems? I'll keep on testing with VMs and XP and hope to find the one update or patch or whatever that causes this problem. Unfortunately I cannot run a VM on my Laser-Laptop because it does not have enough performance for that.

I finally found the solution for this problem
![]() By default the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) is enabled in Windows XP only for Windows-own-programs and -services, but I have it enabled it on my system for all programs since I installed the OS (never had any problem with that). This shuts down Winamp in the moment the AVS-Laser super-scope effect is enabled (should not happen, but it does. Maybe a bug somewhere.) Since I created a DEP exception rule for Winamp.exe everything works fine. @Pangolin: You should be able to reproduce this error now. Maybe you want to add a hint how to circumvent this bug to your documentation or report this to the author of the plugin.

Glad you were able to make it work. It would suck to not be able to enjoy the Winamp laser visualization plug-in! It's one of my favorite Pangolin features...
