asershow Designer 2000 can control laser and theatrical equipment using DMX512 control. Pangolin dealers may sell some of these DMX-controlled devices, including lights, fog machines, mirrors, and even DMX-controlled laser projectors.
If you are interested in making your own DMX-controlled device or laser projector, then you will need a DMX controller board. These boards convert DMX signals into TTL (on/off) or analog voltages. They also may use relays to control larger voltages, such as activating 110 VAC or 220 VAC devices.
The list below describes DMX controller boards that may have special features for laser applications. If you know of any other DMX controller boards to add to this list, please write to webmaster@pangolin.com.

Safety note: DMX devices made specifically for laser applications should go to zero (shutter closed, device off) if the DMX signal is lost. Generic, non-laser devices may not have this safety feature; check the manufacturer's specifications for details.

Logic Systems DMX1602 DMX decoder board

Logic Systems DMX1602 DMX decoder board, $120 + shipping

The LD2000 system uses DMX512 signals to control external devices. If your projector uses on-off signals instead of DMX, then you need this board.
The DMX1602 lets you decode DMX512 control signals coming from the LD2000 system, and use these to derive 16 digital (TTL) and two analog outputs.
The 16 digital outputs can either be 5 VDC TTL compatible, or open collector transistors capable of up to 30 VDC at 0.1 amps. The two analog outputs are 0-10 VDC with individual trimpots for gain. The digital and analog outputs each have their own output connector.
The board requires the user to supply a voltage of +12 VDC at 50 milliamps. If using the RLY-16 relay interface below, the current requirement is 600 milliamps. The board is manufactured and warranted by Logic Systems Inc.

Logic Systems DMX0602A-DRV DMX decoder/driver board, $275 + shipping

This laser accessory driver card combines the features of decoding  DMX512 signals, and supplying 8 high current analog driver outputs. This system was specifically designed for Laser    Entertainment Accessories.
The DMX0602A-DRV has 6 individual 500ma current controlled analog drivers with "Gain, Damping, and Offset" controls. It also features 2 individual 500ma high current drivers that are selectable for either PWM or 0-10VDC. All drivers are internally thermally protected and current limited.  Wide operating range 15-24vdc or  +/- 15-24vdc.
The board is manufactured and warranted by Logic Systems Inc.

Logic Systems RLY16 relay interface board

Logic Systems RLY16 relay interface board, $110 + shipping

This card works with the DMX1602 card, to provide power and isolation to directly activate devices. For example, you could turn on and off devices such as lights requiring 110 or 220 VAC.
The card has 16 individual relays with isolated contacts, rated 5 amps at 250 VAC. All relay coils are 12 VDC and have positive coil connections common.
By using the included interconnect cable, the RLY16 plugs directly into the DMX1602 (above). It can also be used as a standalone relay interface card. The board is manufactured and warranted by Logic Systems Inc.

Logic Systems, Inc. DMX0800 Low Cost DMX DECODER, $100 + shipping

The DMX0800 was designed specifically as a low cost decoder board for the professional lightshow industry. The board is approximately 3 inches square. The board has an LED that indicates a DMX signal is present and a two pin Molex connector for an external indicator. Either may be used.

All PCB relay connections are via Molex connectors. If you don't want to supply your own mating connectors, we can supply a mating connector kit for $5 USD. This kit contains the power and DMX input connector and two relay output connectors with pins.

DMX signal and 24vdc supply inputs are via a single 10 pin ribbon cable connector to accommodate daisy chain style wiring. The board is manufactured and warranted by Logic Systems Inc.

SKE DMX16-DO DMX decoder board

SKE DMX16-DO DMX decoder board, price unknown

The DMX16-DO digital DMX controller receives DMX512 data and converts the data to 16 bits of discrete open-collector (TTL) control. An on-board high-speed UART and micro-controller ensure proper DMX512 protocol and a frame rate set at 32 frames per second. Protection circuitry is employed to make the DMX512 interface fault tolerant.
Dual DMX connectors provide In and Thru so that additional units can be wired in parallel. A programmable address switch selects up to 256 possible DMX addresses. A serial interface communicates with PCs, modems, and other peripheral devices.
