As 2009 comes to a close, it is clear that this year has been one of development and innovation for Pangolin.

In the beginning of the year we released an article on Projector Connections. This article has proven to be very helpful both for people building their own laser projectors, as well as companies around the world using this as a guideline to build and improve their projector designs. As a result, we see the quality and compatibility of laser projectors getting better and better.

We exhibited at a number of tradeshows including Prolight & Sound in Frankfurt and Shanghai, PALM in Beijing, LDI in Orlando and ILDA in Amsterdam where Pangolin users once again won the majority of ILDA Awards for Artistic Achievement and Pangolin's new LASORB product also won an award for Technical Achievement.

Around the middle of 2009 we released version 5.0 of all of our products including LD2000, Lasershow Converter MAX, and Interactive Messaging Unlimited. We also teamed up with Light Converse to extend their visualization system, now capable of creating true photorealistic simulation of lighting, video, pyrotechnic effects and Pangolin lasers.

And finally, within the last month we released a completely new software platform -- Lasershow Designer QuickShow.

We have diligently been working on a variety of new products and projects for the future, and we look forward to 2010 with great vigor, knowing that the hard work and time put in over 2009 will bear great things to come. Keep an eye out for what's coming next, from Pangolin.

Lasershow Designer QuickShow

The official release is here, and we are thrilled to offer this new software platform to our users!

QuickShow came as a response to some observed market trends that we noticed during 2008. As laser diodes have continued to come down in cost (including BLU-RAY laser diodes replacing DPSS), and as the cost of scanners continues to decrease, laser projectors are becoming less and less expensive. This is making laser projectors available to an ever-increasing market in nightclubs, discos, airports, shopping malls and the like, and also making laser projectors available to a less sophisticated user base. As a result, there is a growing need for low-cost, easy to use software to control these projectors. Pangolin's answer to this trend is Lasershow Designer QuickShow -- a product that is powerful, affordable, and easy to use.

At first glance, it appears as though QuickShow has a Live Control user interface that is very much like Pangolin's past live products. However, as you look deeper you will see some brand new features including "Quick Tools" that can be used to create custom cues, auto-traced artwork, beam effects, abstracts, text, and more. Features include:

• QuickSetup -- lets you configure QuickShow for your projector, and also tailor it to the sophistication of the user

• QuickText -- lets you create non-moving text, as well as scrolling and animated text

• QuickShape -- lets you create simple shapes such as circles, squares, triangles, as well as more complex shapes such as waves and loops (all perfect for beam shows)

• QuickTrace -- lets you trace graphic images such as BMP, JPEG, and GIF and do so practically instantly

• QuickTargets -- lets you create a sequence of beams that targets mirrors or diffraction gratings using your scanners.

• QuickTimeline -- lets you create simple sequences of cues, or a complete laser show timed to music

• QuickFX -- lets you apply an array of effects to existing imagery (similar to how LivePRO lets you apply an Effect or Key Effect to cues)

In addition to the QuickTools, QuickShow also offers a complete frame/animation editor to create new frames and edit existing frames, advanced text editor, advanced abstract generator, and other advanced features.

Another great feature of QuickShow is that you can create a new show, while an existing show is playing. With other laser systems, as you click cues and change controls, your work is updated live to the laser, allowing the audience to see every move you make - even when you don't want them to... QuickShow is smarter! You can work in the background, setting up cues, and trying different looks, and your audience doesn't see anything until you click the "Show it Now" button.

Currently, QuickShow runs on our Flashback 3 XE hardware, allowing this all in one package to be very cost effective, with a US Suggested end-user price of $595. The Flashback 3 XE plugs directly into the USB port of any computer, and doesn't require any other power sources. And being a Pangolin product, the Flashback 3 is built with high quality, industrial components so the projected image quality is great.

We have prepared a 12-page brochure for QuickShow, which you can read here

For all existing Pangolin FB3 users, we offer Lasershow Designer QuickShow as a free upgrade, which you can download here

Holiday Specials

The holidays are here, and as a way to thank our uses, we are offering some amazing deals on upgrades within the LD2000 family, LivePRO, and our SMS products.
