REMINDER!! Use ShowClock for
your New Years Shows.
This is just a reminder that in late 2002, we added a tool called "ShowClock"
to the LD2000 system. This is a program that can run stand-alone, and
project a real-time laser-projected clock, or it can run along with
Showtime and allow you to add various clocks into your show. Even if you
don't use it for the purpose of creating a clock within your show, you
can use it to start and synchronize your show to the computer's clock
for perfect New Years count-down applications.
If you have LD2000 version 3.10 or later, you already have the ShowClock
application and examples. These can be found in the LD2000\Demos\ShowClock
folder. See the ShowClockExample.SHS file and RTF document file to see
an example of how it might be used in a real show.
If you have a version of LD2000 prior to 3.10, or if you do not have the
ShowClock application and examples, you can download them here:
http://www.pangolin.com/_Files/ShowClock.zip
Also, within the LD2000\Demos directory, you will find something related
-- a Show which illustrates various ways of creating clocks and timers
in Showtime. This can be used separately or in conjunction with the
ShowClock program mentioned above.
If you can not find it in the LD2000\Demos directory, you can download
these examples here:

Have fun, and have a Happy New Years show!!

Updated the Laser Resource section a bit. In
particular, added a section about Thames Valley University's course
titled Lasers in Entertainment for those with a
keen interest in gaining a professional grounding in the creative
use and safe control of laser light for show presentations. You can
download a flier that describes their
program for Academic Year 2005-2006, Semester 2.

Pangolin has obtained a dedicated web server.
Up until now we used a shared server provided by an ISP, just like most
other companies do. But our monthly web traffic (which exceeds 90GB per
month) and other factors have led us to require a dedicated server. Due
to the switch-over, there was a temporary interruption in the
availability of our web site and email.
-
Discontinued older email addresses in favor of a
new Contact form.

Pangolin welcomes a new programmer to our team
-- Alexander Devyatkin.
Alexander will be spending most of his time working on our Interactive
Messaging Unlimited program, but will also help in other areas. The
addition of Alexander helps us to better balance our work-load. Since he
will be concentrating almost solely on the programming of IMU, this
allows the rest of Pangolin programmers to work more heavily on laser-
and entertainment-related software and systems.

Updated
information about the Flashback 3
OEM Laser Controller -- Pangolin's credit-card sized board which
can play back laser frames and shows stored on a SmartMedia memory card. Its main use is to be designed into
compact, stand-alone laser projectors.
A lot in the works... Pangolin has been busy working on the
LD2000 version 4.0 update, which will include DMX-512 input capability to
control Live! and LivePRO, new colorizing functions in LD2000 and several
other feature additions to the LD2000 product family. In addition, we have
made a major investment in time and effort into the version 4.0 update of
our conversion products including Lasershow Converter MAX, Lasershow
Converter FLASH and Lasershow Converter 4D. LD2000 Intro users will be
pleased to learn that version 4.0 will offer more tracks and the
capability of creating and editing Vector frames. There are other exciting
things in the works as well... Of course the version 4.0 update will be
available absolutely free to registered users of each product. Stay tuned
for more news about this important software update.

Released new firmware for the
Lasershow Player model CD2000. The new firmware adds a few minor
features, but most importantly, completely resolves a few longstanding but
rarely seen problems. Special Thanks goes to David Volpe of Prismatic
Magic for reporting the problems and helping us to find them.
February 02 2005
Released web pages about Lasers and
Aviation Safety, and Laser Shows and
Aviation Safety. These pages were created to help dispel certain
myths being propagated by the media, amid the flurry of laser
pointer-related incidents in late 2004 and early 2005. Pangolin staff
members and hired consultants spent a lot of time and effort in creating
these pages, to ensure their technical accuracy and legitimacy.
