REMINDER!! Use ShowClock for
your New Years Shows.
This is just a reminder that in late 2002, we added a tool called "ShowClock"
to the LD2000 system. This is a program that can run stand-alone, and
project a real-time laser-projected clock, or it can run along with
Showtime and allow you to add various clocks into your show. Even if you
don't use it for the purpose of creating a clock within your show, you
can use it to start and synchronize your show to the computer's clock
for perfect New Years count-down applications.
If you have LD2000 version 3.10 or later, you already have the ShowClock
application and examples. These can be found in the LD2000\Demos\ShowClock
folder. See the ShowClockExample.SHS file and RTF document file to see
an example of how it might be used in a real show.
If you have a version of LD2000 prior to 3.10, or if you do not have the
ShowClock application and examples, you can download them here:
http://www.pangolin.com/_Files/ShowClock.zip
Also, within the LD2000\Demos directory, you will find something related
-- a Show which illustrates various ways of creating clocks and timers
in Showtime. This can be used separately or in conjunction with the
ShowClock program mentioned above.
If you can not find it in the LD2000\Demos directory, you can download
these examples here:
http://www.pangolin.com/_Files/Clock_and_Timer_Examples.zip
Have fun, and have a Happy New Years show!!

A new version of Lasershow Converter MAX is ready
for testing.
Several people have contacted us recently and said that they had
upgraded to 3ds max version 9.0. Up until now, we have not had a version
of Lasershow Converter MAX that would work with MAX 9, but we have
recently created a new version that is ready for testing. Please
contact Pangolin if you
would like to receive this test version.

although it has recently been used at several high-profile laser shows.

pictures from the Amsterdam Pangolin User Meeting 2006. At this
meeting, eight separate projectors were controlled by Pangolin's LD2000,
Showtime and LivePRO software, all connected by network using Pangolin's
QM2000.NET hardware platform embedded directly into projectors made by
Laser Image.

Awakenings Rave, performed by Hugo Bunk and Glenn Turner, with
assistance Hayden Hale and George Dodworth. At this rave, LivePRO was
used to control 13 separate projectors, all connected by network using
Pangolin's QM2000.NET hardware platform, embedded directly into
projectors made by Laser Image. (For more information about this show
and the hardware used, please
contact Hugo Bunk at Laser Image BV.)

Added
LivePRO version 4.10a, Build 1848 update. This is a maintenance
release which fixes a problem noticed with Image file dialog box, but
also adds some new features as well. (Note that the titlbar will still
show LivePRO version 4.0.)
-
Added
LD2000 version 4.10a update. When compared with release 4.10, the
only difference is a few system files which should allow better results
with Windows 98. Users who have Windows 2000 or Windows XP do not need
to install this update.

Added
LD2000 version 4.10 update. This is a maintenance release with a
few changes in the area of the Live! controller in Showtime. This is
also a new installer which includes the latest DLLs and Custom Controls
from Microsoft. This should solve install problems noticed by some
people running Windows 98. Even if you do
not use Showtime:Live, Pangolin recommends that customers
download and use this version.

Mandatory update for Lasershow Converter MAX.
With the help of some of our clients, we discovered a problem with
Lasershow Converter MAX when it is used with 3ds max version 6 and
later, and used outside the United States. It is hard to describe the
cause of the problem, but the symptoms are that things will not render
correctly unless your regional settings are such that you use a period
"." as the decimal point in numbers. Since it is typical that folks in
Europe use a comma "," as the decimal separator, it is possible that the
internal code of Lasershow Converter MAX would misunderstand the number,
and this would cause low quality rendering. Please
contact Pangolin to
receive the latest release of Lasershow Converter MAX (version 4.08). In
the mean time, if you want to continue to use the version of Lasershow
Converter MAX that you have now, you will get better results if you
change your Regional settings to "English (United States)".
-
Added a few new PDF files to the
Printed Brochures and Ads page.

Added the
downloadable update files for LD2000 version 4.0. Note that only
the executable programs are included in this update. Frames and Shows
are not included as part of the update due to size constraints. (The
complete LD2000 version 4.0 installation would be nearly 2GB!) If you
are interested in having the latest frames and shows, we recommend you
purchase an Installation CD/DVD set. More information is found below in
the May 19, 2006 posting.

LD2000 version 4.0 is finally shipping! This is a
CD/DVD set consisting of three CDs and one DVD. (Due to the enormous
increase in program and laser frame/show content, we had to expand the
number of disks.)
Disc 1 contains the executable programs including
LD2000, Showtime, Autoplay, Asteroids, LivePRO, Lasershow Video (VST),
TraceIT, Lasershow Converter FLASH, Lasershow Converter 4D and more. The
main LD2000 programs are available in English, French, German, Spanish
and Portuguese.
Disc 2 contains all of the extra clipart frames,
Pangolin-supplied shows and a collection of frames and shows from
International Laser Productions.
Disc 3 is the latest version of the Lightspeed Laser
Animation Library which includes over 90,000 frames separated into more
than 900 separate frame files in 16 categories.
Disc 4 is the Tutorial DVD which also has quick video
demonstrations of Projection Zones, LivePRO, Lasershow Converter MAX and
Wide Angle Scanning.
All in all there are now nearly 100 shows and demos and
nearly 300,000 frames included. Probably the best way to explore the new
content is to use the Clipart Browser / Search Engine, or use the
Enhanced File Dialog boxes, both of which are found in LD2000 and
Showtime.
We are currently working on finalizing the downloadable
version of 4.0 which will be found in the
Updates section of this
site. Note however that the downloadable version will only include the
executable programs themselves and will not contain any extra clipart
frames or shows. If you want a complete installation set, you can order
it online by clicking
here. (Please continue to watch this "What's New" page for
information about when the downloadable version is available.)

Added information about spectrabeam.de -- the new
online shop for Pangolin laser shows.
The Germany-based entrepreneur Bernd Steinert opened an
online-shop dedicated to marketing and distribution of laser shows (showware).
On a single web site,
www.spectrabeam.de, potential users such as discotheques and laser
show operators are provided with shows from various manufacturers and
programmers. Complete information can be found in a
spectrabeam press release.

Revised
information about the 2006 Pangolin User
Meeting, to be held the afternoon before the ILDA Conference in
Rimini, Italy.
Due to the short notice given to people to register, we
have decided to reconfigure this meeting, and to hold an additional two
meetings during 2006. As a result, there is no need to register for the
March 11, 2006 Pangolin User Meeting. Also as a result, we will hold a
Pangolin Prize competition later on during 2006, at one of the upcoming
Pangolin User Meetings.
